Narrow Engineered Oak Flooring

Narrow floors are most useful in a small space or hallway, as they have the ability to make these seem larger than they really are. At the same time, they manage to be classy and attractive, as well as adding warmth and elegance to a room. We have many different sizes, shades and styles available, including single strip and parquet options.

With solid wood, narrower planks are slightly more delicate than wider alternatives - however, on engineered planks, the support of the other materials underneath the wood veneer and the wood's lower thickness allows narrower planks to be more stable. They will however be made of oak, shorter in length or come in random lengths to increase this stability further. As parquet flooring is so short, being narrow is more proportional to the floor thus affects stability less than ordinary flooring. This is why parquet is such a popular narrow flooring option.

With the exception of parquet, we would recommend narrow planks in lighter footfall environments due to wider planks being more stable and suited to busy areas. As stated, many of these floors are oak due to oaks natural durability. Oak is also extremely versatile in terms of colour variation, grain pattern and other specifications, so there will be something for everyone in our narrow solid wood collection. Other species of wood are available in our wider flooring ranges.

Installation of these planks may be more time consuming given there are more of them, regardless of whether single strip or parquet, so consider getting a professional in to do this for you if required. A floating floor method is not recommended for less wide planks due to the fact they tend to move more than wider alternatives. Try instead a secret nailing or glueing method as found in our installation guide, found on each product page under the ‘installation’ tab.
