Vinyl is one of the most durable choices of flooring, lasting for many years looking good as new even with the strains of everyday life. It is also scratch, stain and waterproof, ideal for rooms such as the kitchen and bathroom where exposure to these elements is high. Its slip proof surface is also beneficial if spillages are likely in your home! Very popular with families, vinyl will cope with whatever your busy family household will throw at it!
So many of us lust after the affluent look of real wood but need something at a cheaper price and easier maintenance. If this is you, then vinyl is the faultless option. It presents a very convincing imitation of real wood through the stunning knots and grains, that it’s almost impossible to tell them apart.
This product presents us with a stunning ashy grey, a very popular colour in the flooring world at the moment. Its popularity has increased recently due to its clean-cut and sophisticated look, yet still having all the authentic charm as a traditional colour does.
One of the best benefits of vinyl is its ability to cope with the differing temperatures of underfloor heating, something that is becoming increasingly popular in modern homes. We have also included a fantastic 30-year guarantee to give you peace of mind!
If you’re looking to install luxury vinyl tiles by hand, there are a few things to bear in mind:
Glue Down vs Click
Before you purchase your LVT, check which installation system it uses. There are two main types: ‘Glue Down’ and ‘Click’.
• Glue Down is more traditional, ensuring dimensional stability and strength. Each tile is placed in a desired pattern, and set alongside the neighbouring tiles.
• Click installation is quick and hassle free. Each tile fits together seamlessly and securely, locking into place with a single movement.
Many fitters prefer floating their tiles due to quick and easy installation. Floating does not require you to fix your flooring to a subfloor, however, only click tiles can be fitted this way.
A thin underlay is fitted underneath the tile to encourage cushioning underfoot. Floating helps cut down on labour, whilst ensuring that your boards are comfortable and strong underfoot.
Fixing your flooring to the subfloor will ensure a long lifespan and minimal movement. Both Glue Down and Click tiles can be fitted this way, however, it is more popular with the former.
LVT can be installed above most existing hard surfaces, such as concrete, plywood, tiles, and wood boards. Adhesive is applied directly under the tile, setting rigidly into place.
